January 25th (Julian calendar), if it falls on a Sunday, or
on the Sunday nearest to it, the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad
celebrates the memory of the New Martyrs and Confessors of
Russia.
The date - that of the martyrdom in 1918 of the Metropolitan
Vladimir of Kiev-was established by the All-Russian Council
of 1917-18 as the day of commemoration of all who suffered
for Christ from the Soviet regime.
